 Don't bother January 4, 2009
Same here, they just don't work. My sons were so diappointed and wondered why Santa didn't try it before he gave it to them. Try to explain that to a child on Christmas morning. I don't understand how a company can sell a product that doesn't work. I can't return them because the packaging was thrown away with the all the gift wrapping. So they are just sitting there collecting dust. Last time I buy anything from them.

This product looks good and the lights glow well, however, the infra red sensor in the wii remote is covered and therefore does not allow you to play the game properly.
Returning for refund and now have to find a replacement pressie for my partner!!!

I bought these sabers for my clan to use with the Clone Wars (Lightsaber Duel) and Soul Calibre Wii games. The build quality of sabers themselves is excellent and each has a substantial feel to it, being well-balanced and comfortable in the hand. The blades glow brightly (one red (Sith)/one blue (Jedi)) and are bright enough to see clearly broad daylight. When used in a dark room, the glowing effect is much more impressive. The Wii remotes sit neatly in the handles and all of the buttons including the trigger on the bottom are easily accessible. Unfortunately, that's where the coolness ends since that's all they do - hold the Wii remotes. With the Wii remotes in place any possible communication between Wii remote and Wii sensor bar is blocked, making them absolutely useless in Wii gamplay - Wii compatiblity in gameplay ZERO. Thrustmaster sell these as Wii compatible - but I think that's stretching the description just a bit too far. Why they decided to accept this design and go into production knowing the glaring design flaw is beyond comprehension. Just cashing in on the SW phenomenon I suppose.
Thrustmaster light sabre January 2, 2009
If you want to use your Wii remote inserted into the light sabre don't buy this product. The infra-red is blocked by the housing of the sabre so you have to take your remote out to make it effective with the game. It DOESN'T say this on the box, but it is in the instruction book - not very useful when you are purchasing as a gift.
The sabres light up well and look good if only they had made them so the remote actually worked whilst housed within the sabre.
Very disappointed.
PLEASE amazon can you make this major issue apparent to future customers?

This was a Christmas present, but only one of the lights worked. It does not work in synchronisation with the on screen pictures and is therefore useless. The sabers are not exactly light in weight and my children actually took the wii motes out in the end. So all in all they were pretty useless and will be sent back!! My kids were very disappointed.
