Poor drums on this item - im sending back my second one January 5, 2009 I was waiting with great hope when i ordered this item back in september. I got the item on day of release - first it came without the promised bundled bass and then the drums were not sensitive enough and finaly the plastic drum stick holder snapped first go!! when my son miss hit the sybols. I contacted RedOctane and they sent me a free Drum tuning kit which didnt seem to help at all. Then last night the red drum stopped working unless struck exactly in the middle. I also dislike the level of volume for the drums and microphone as you can hardly hear the vocals or drums unless you turn the tv up very loud which the neighbours dont like!! most of the time you can only hear the clicking of the sticks on the pads. I sent one item back and ordered another and quelle surpise the same problems with the red pad and quiet volume. I spoke with a manager in my local game store and he says he has had over 15 items returned last week alone with the same issues as mine. Surely Redoctane \ activision should recall the faulty items until a fix can be found. The tuning kit they supply is no help at all. Its such a shame as the Guitar works a treat and is such fun and the songs are great but i bought it for the drums and they are next to useless. My second unit is going back tomorrow shame.
drum kit failure January 4, 2009 The cymbal on our drum kit lasted until the queen's speech and no more. Reading various reviews indicates that my family were not the only ones to be disappointed on Christmas Day. There is obviously an issue that needs resolving and until then I would suggest that you think carefully before purchasing.
Guitar Hero: World Tour - Band Bundle (Wii) January 1, 2009 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Game is quite good, but when it turned up one pair of feet on the stand hadn't been manufactured correctly meaning they weren't flat on the floor. Also it started to develop faults after only a day or so of use; one cymbal failed (the pad and connector failed) the other you had to hit hard and in exactly the right spot. I have one very tearful small boy on my hands, upset that his much hoped for Christmas present has to be returned.
Let down by the drums December 31, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Excellent game, good track list. Massive disappointment with the drum kit (the only reason to buy). I have now had this kit twice, once from Amazon and another from a different retailer. Both times the drum kit has failed. The first time one of the connectors to the cymbals came apart (at least it lasted 3 weeks). The second time the cymbal failed entirely, swapped the left / right around and the problem moved to the other side, so it definitely was the cymbal. This one lasted about 1/2 day. I have managed to find one in a local shop so will give it one last go. Otherwise I shall just buy the game and play it with the guitar only (might pick up a USB microphone as well, so my kids can sing along). I would rate the game with guitar only as 5 stars, but the drum kit really lets it down (I think the manufacturer are aware as they only provide a 90 day product warranty)
just a game December 31, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
The poor songs on this game is why it gets such a low review, sure there are plenty of big name bands listed but the songs are ones you've never heard of, for a reason, most are rubbish, the clue is in the name 'guitar hero' I mean you would expect a bias towards guitar heavy bands not Willie Nelson, steely dan (you actually play a keyboard solo on the guitar)and others. The drums are a waste of time as they can't be heard over anything and the microphone has to be almost swallowed to be heard. On the Wii this is not a cheap game as you need a controller for every instrument, you can apparently dowload more songs however you'll have to pay for them and, having looked they don't seem very good either. Guitar Hero 3 had some great songs which were fun to play just for a laugh (or dream of being a rock god) the lack of good songs makes world tour little more than a game where you press plastic buttons. If your deciding which one to buy get GH3 its much cheaper and better.
